Now is a buyer’s market and dealer Edward Winkelman has written an interesting blog about how to buy art from dealers in a recession. Options which dealers might now accept from buyers include:
- price discounts
- payment plans
- higher ranking in the pecking order for first pick of new works
He gives some useful tips on how to make your offer more palatable to a dealer such as giving the dealer forward dated cheques under a payment plan. This saves the dealer from having to chase for payments and therefor more inclined to accept a plan.
