OPEN CALL | Hong Kong | Open Platform Programme | Asia Art Archive – 8 January 2016

Cultural practitioners from all disciplines are invited to submit proposals for Asia Art Archive’s fourth annual Open Platform programme. Held in association with Art Basel in Hong Kong, the programme is an integral part of AAA’s endeavour to enable new thinking and critical dialogue around recent art in Asia. Discussion topics should reference AAA’s research and programme interests with some flexibility. The Archive also welcomes contributions through an open call for material to enrich the AAA collection, a free and publicly accessible physical and digital resource aiding the study of recent art in Asia. MORE HERE 


OPEN CALL | Bourges | Artists’ Residencies and Curatorial Project | École Nationale Supérieure d’Art (National School of Art/ENSA) – 15 March 2016

Each year since 1991, the École Nationale Supérieure d’Art (National School of Art/ENSA) in Bourges has been providing residencies for young artists, with the financial backing of the Regional Cultural Affairs Office (DRAC) and the Centre-Val de Loire Region. These residencies are intended to give young artists from France and abroad the opportunity to carry out a personal artistic project connected with the School, its teaching, its students and other external partners. The successful candidate will be awarded a three-month residency during the academic year at a period to be decided on. He or she will receive a grant, a production budget and a publishing budget. The School’s La Box gallery is accepting curatorial proposals for its exhibition programme, running from January to March 2017, will be organised by a freelance curator, a critic or an art collective. MORE HERE


JOB | Hong Kong | Director, Classical Chinese Paintings | Bonham’s – 22 March 2016

Bonham’s is seeking an experienced Specialist and business developer to join their Hong Kong office handling Chinese traditional paintings. The primary duty will be to generate consignments for auction. This role is responsible for fostering business getting for Chinese Painting in Hong Kong, focusing on but not limited to the area of Classical Chinese painting. This role works in concert with the US team and other Heads of Department to help foster the growth of Chinese painting auctions and occasional private sales for Bonham’s in Hong Kong. Mumbai-based art gallery is looking for a smart, hardworking gallery assistant. The successful candidate will be reliable, have initiative and good attention to detail, able to multi-task and have a keen interest in contemporary art. The Gallery assistant’s responsibilities will include planning exhibitions, liaison with artists, art fair assistance, maintenance of inventory, preparation of PDFs and presentations, and all aspects of running a gallery. A degree in Art History, English or other relevant fields is preferred. Excellent command of English (written and spoken) is a must, a good command of Photoshop and image-related software preferred. Bonhams currently offers an opportunity for an Administrator in their 20th Century Arts department based at their Knightsbridge office. Administrative support is a major part of this role, which will include responsibility for the smooth running of the department. As Administrator, the candidate will be responsible for all pre and post sale administration. He/She will assist with the efficient handling of client enquiries by telephone, email and post, liaising with the department specialists and director as and when necessary to ensure prompt advice and service to customers. INTERNSHIP | Boston | South Asian Collection Research | Museum of Fine Arts – 4 December 2015

The Art of Asia, Oceania and Africa department seeks a volunteer intern who will conduct research related to two upcoming exhibitions involving South Asian art. One exhibition features contemporary art and will open during the period of the internship, and the other features works from the historic collection and is projected to open in 2017. Working under the Ananda Coomaraswamy Curator of South Asian and Islamic Art, the research intern will have the opportunity to learn first-hand both about museum work and in particular about different stages of exhibition production. The successful candidate will be mature, detail-oriented and with knowledge of the fundamentals of South Asian art. MORE HERE
