OPEN CALL | Philadelphia | Curatorial Fellowship in European Decorative Arts and Sculpture | Philadelphia Museum of Art – 31 March 2017
The Museum announces a two-year Curatorial Fellowship in European Decorative Arts and Sculpture beginning on 1 September 2017. This fellowship is intended to provide individuals who have completed their graduate training in the field with firsthand curatorial experience. An MA in Art History or related field is required as well as proficiency in at least one European language. Candidates should be able to demonstrate a commitment to art-historical scholarship, to the interpretation and display of works of art, and to the engagement of the public through educational programming. The Curatorial Fellow will participate in all activities of the department, which is responsible for a collection of over 20,000 objects. The work that the Curatorial Fellow will be expected to undertake includes, but is not limited to, object research and cataloguing, public inquiries, exhibition and loan preparation, gallery reinstallation and administration. Fellows have the opportunity to organise an exhibition and/or gallery reinstallation from the permanent collection during the second year of the fellowship. MORE HERE
OPEN CALL | Hong Kong | Call for Papers | Asia Art Archive – 10 April 2017
The symposium “It Begins with a Story: Artists, Writers, and Periodicals in Asia”, organised by Asia Art Archive in collaboration with The University of Hong Kong, invites contributions anchored around periodicals from Asia published between 1900 to the present. The symposium asks how periodicals in Asia across the 20th century have fostered conversations about art and emergent forms of visuality. The organising committee is interested in how periodicals constitute genealogies of language and nomenclatures around the modern, the contemporary, the indigenous, the nation, arts and crafts, and tradition. OPEN CALL | London | Art Residency | Becomebecome – 21 April 2017
The Becomebecome programme for art residencies and masterclasses was established by artists and researchers who wanted to propose a model for knowledge exchange and creative practice that goes beyond conventional boundaries associated to the role of mentors, participants and diverse social actors. Becomebecome invites applications from artists, curators and researchers from all backgrounds to participate in their nomadic residency and exhibition programme taking place in London with their partners Green Rooms and Arebyte Gallery. During this 10-day residency in the heart of London, participants will transform, make and exhibit their work in various locations, and present the results at Arebyte Gallery in the heart of London’s art district. During the residency, programme participants will stay in a shared room at Green Rooms London, a unique space for artists in a beautiful area of the city. The residency will culminate in an exhibition at Arebyte Gallery London, an organisation known throughout the city and beyond for its creativity and collaborative approach. MORE HERE
INTERNSHIP | New York | Internship | Institute of Classical Architecture & Art – apply by unspecified
The Institute of Classical Architecture & Art is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Intern. This person will gain a thorough understanding of development and the importance of prospect research, as well as related database management, marketing, communication and research skills. Training is provided for social media platforms, networks and databases the ICAA currently uses including: Raiser’s Edge, WordPress, Constant Contact, Instagram and Facebook. The Intern is invited (but not required) to attend weekly staff meetings. The candidate’s responsibilities and projects include: researching content for marketing and fundraising efforts; working with Development team on the Arthur Ross Awards, the ICAA’s major fundraising event, and other programmes; and assisting with the ICAA’s annual publication the Classicist, etc. Candidates must be currently pursuing a degree or be recent college graduates with interest in the arts. A monthly stipend is offered. The required time commitment is a minimum of 16 hours per week, 10:00am-5:00pm (with an hour for lunch). Hauser & Wirth is looking for a highly motivated Communications Intern to work in their New York gallery for a full-time, paid position of six months. The gallery is seeking someone with the desire to become a communications professional to join the global communications team, working in a highly successful and prestigious world-class organisation. He/she will be principally dedicated to the communications department, but will be called upon for general gallery assistance as necessary. He/she will be assigned a range of tasks to gain an understanding of how Hauser & Wirth operates, with a focus on PR and marketing. OPEN CALL | Lithuania | Call for Artists | YICCA – 15 March 2017
YICCA International Contest of Contemporary Art is an international call for artists, open to professionals from any country in the world. All kinds of contemporary artworks are allowed in the art contest: drawings, paintings, sculptures, photographs, graphics, mix media, video, installations and performances. The competition’s aim is to promote the enrolled artist, giving them chance to join the international market of contemporary art. Internationality and networking make this art call a huge opportunity for the artists, which can win a cash prize and have the opportunity to exhibit the submitted works at the Rooster Gallery in Vilnius from 1 to 14 June 2017. The Jury’s final decision will lead to a selection of 18 artists that will participate in the final exhibition. The first and second classified in this art challenge will receive a money grant of value respectively of EUR3000 and EUR1000. MORE HERE
OPEN CALL | New Mexico | Call for Artists | Starry Night Residency Programme – 15 March 2017
The Starry Night Residency Programme provides artists, writers and curators with the opportunity to live and work as part of a small, creative community. The Artist In Residence programme offers residencies in the summer and winter, running from May through September and January through March. The programme is open to visual artists, writers, filmmakers and arts administrators. The primary goal of the programme is to support self directed creatives and researchers in the production of new work while offering an environment that promotes self reflection and experimentation. The residency includes a private, fully furnished apartment with private bathroom and kitchen, shared studio space, and courtyard with gardens, barbecue and campfire area. Residencies are a minimum of 1 week and a maximum of 8 weeks. MORE HERE
OPEN CALL | France | Call for Curators | École Nationale Supérieure d’Art, Bourges – 15 March 2017
The Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Art (National School of Art/ENSA) in Bourges is housed in a 17th-century building in the Old Town in central France, two hours from Paris. The La Box gallery is one of ENSA’s principal teaching tools. Part of the exhibition programme at the La Box gallery – from January to May 2018 – will be organised by a freelance curator, a critic or an art collective. The project must fit with the School’s concerns, but there is no predefined exhibition format: it is up to the curator to decide on the mode of presentation, which may take the form of several exhibitions or a single, open-ended one. The curator (or the collective) can also come up with proposals for cooperative ventures with different partners (local, regional and more). The overall budget for the curatorial project is EUR25,000. This sum includes production and transport of works, communication and publishing costs, artists’ travel and accommodation costs and travel expenses for the curator(s), up to a total of EUR20,000, plus curator’s expenses up to EUR5,000.
