OPEN CALL | Hong Kong | Artist Residency | Art Next Expo – 30 April 2017
Art Next 2017 is pleased to announce its collaboration with Taipei Artist Village for establishing a three-month residency scheme as one of the prizes of the “2017 Art Next International Artists Awards”. The prize will be open for interested artists who participate in the Expo to apply. The prize will offer the awardee a three–month residency at Taipei Artist Village in 2018, which includes a studio with living and working space, logistic supports in organising activities such as open day, talks and workshops, as well as round-trip tickets. It is also set to provide the awardee an opportunity for an experience exchange with the onsite artists from different cultural backgrounds and regions. The selection of the residency prize will be carried out at the venue of Art Next Expo in October 2017. Representatives of Taipei Artist Village will attend the Expo in person to decide the prize-winner from the onsite artists. Awardee will participate in the residency scheme at Taipei Artist Village in 2018. MORE HERE
OPEN CALL | Shanghai | Call for Proposals | West Bund – 12 May 2017
West Bund is an ambitious urban branding and development project initiated by Shanghai’s Xuhui District government. It seeks to bring together domestic and foreign pioneers in the fields of culture, art, media, fashion, design, and innovative finance to create a unique and vibrant world-class waterfront on par with the Left Bank in Paris and the South Bank in London. “West Bund X” contest calls for VI designs that illustrate the infinite and diverse possibilities, which Shanghai West Bund brings to the community at home and beyond. The design shall match West Bund’s vision of a vibrant waterfront area of a global city and its function as a major culture cluster. The design shall reflect West Bund’s identity, cultural accumulation and distinctive connotation. It should be concise and clear, modern yet sublime; it should be bright in theme, rich in content and easy to identify. The design should be easily enlarged and reduced in size, as it could be applied to different contexts and promotional materials across platforms. MORE HERE
JOB | London | Assistant Collection Registrar (Loans) | Tate – 14 May 2017
Tate’s Collection Care Division is responsible for ensuring that collections are available and accessible to the public. Its operations embrace the management, research, care and conservation of the art, archive and library collections. Tate has an extensive programme of loans from its collections to galleries and museums internationally, nationally and regionally, supporting Tate’s mission to promote public understanding and enjoyment of British, modern and contemporary art. The successful candidate for the position of Assistant Collection Registrar (Loans) will be part of the Registrar team, involved in this loans process from start to finish. He/she will assist in the coordination of loans out from Tate to museums worldwide, including preparation, packing, transport and insurance, adhering to national and international museum standards. Liaison with borrowing institutions and Tate staff is a significant part of the role. MORE HERE
JOB | Minneapolis | Associate Curator of South and Southeast Asian Art | Minneapolis Institute of Art – 19 May 2017
The Minneapolis Institute of Art (Mia) seeks applications for the Jane Emison Assistant/Associate Curator of South and Southeast Asian Art to develop, research, exhibit and publish Mia’s collection of South and Southeast Asian art. This dynamic curator will cultivate relationships with donors, professional colleagues, partner organisations and the community in furtherance of Mia’s strategic goals. In this role, the successful candidate will: interpret the museum’s collection of South and Southeast Asian art through permanent collection gallery displays, didactic materials and publications; conduct research and mount special exhibitions, with accompanying publications; and oversee the care and preservation of the collection by ensuring proper and responsible handling and installation of objects and recommending objects for conservation treatment, etc. The candidate must possess a Master’s degree in the field of South and Southeast Asian art studies (PhD preferred) and have demonstrated skill at strategically building a collection through gift and purchase. OPEN CALL | Portugal | Call for Artists | Cerveira Art Biennial Foundation – 30 May 2017
The Cerveira Biennial Art Foundation (FBAC) challenges national and international artists for sending intervention proposals within the scope of the XIX Cerveira International Art Biennial, which runs from 15 July to 16 September 2017. The FBAC is looking for cross-innovative projects in all artistic fields (visual arts, performing arts and audiovisuals – including theatre, dance, music, circus, graffiti, performance, painting, sculpture, installation, video, photography, etc.), to integrate the complementary programme of the oldest art biennial in the country. With the Artistic interventions project, the FBAC intends to motivate the exchange of experiences and knowledge between artists and the local community, promoting social development of the designated “Village of the Arts”, fostering arts and Portuguese culture. OPEN CALL | London | Art Residency | Becomebecome – 21 April 2017
The Becomebecome programme for art residencies and masterclasses was established by artists and researchers who wanted to propose a model for knowledge exchange and creative practice that goes beyond conventional boundaries associated to the role of mentors, participants and diverse social actors. Becomebecome invites applications from artists, curators and researchers from all backgrounds to participate in their nomadic residency and exhibition programme taking place in London with their partners Green Rooms and Arebyte Gallery. During this 10-day residency in the heart of London, participants will transform, make and exhibit their work in various locations, and present the results at Arebyte Gallery in the heart of London’s art district. During the residency, programme participants will stay in a shared room at Green Rooms London, a unique space for artists in a beautiful area of the city. The residency will culminate in an exhibition at Arebyte Gallery London, an organisation known throughout the city and beyond for its creativity and collaborative approach. MORE HERE
