As pointed out in a recent The Art Newspaper article, competition has never been fiercer for international contemporary galleries so today the top ones are focussing on building their global brand. Para/Site bring Indonesian moving image to Hong Kong – Record Waves exhibition

“Recorded Waves: Moving Images from Indonesia” began at Para/Site Art Space in Hong Kong in November this year. Curated by Para/Site’s Executive Director and Curator Alvaro Rodríguez Fominaya, the exhibition displays an assemblage of examples of the development of video art in Indonesia. It is presented simultaneously with “Jompet.Third Realm”, a solo exhibition of work by celebrated Indonesian artist Kuswidananto aka Jompet.
Second Hong Kong sound art event celebrates silence – event alert

“Sound Friction No2: The Zen Ensemble” is part two in a series of sound art events being held in Hong Kong under the banner of Sound Friction. According to the organisers, experimental record label Re-Records and Videotage, a non-profit new media organisation, artists in The Zen Ensemble will be exploring “the composition and performance of silence” matched with “stunning live visuals.” The event is free to attend and hopes to attract “electronics and sound art lovers.”

“The Perfect Storm” is what Christie’s International CEO Steven Murphy called the company’s Hong Kong Autumn 2010 auctions that ended on 2 December. The auctions resulted in a total of USD414 million in revenue from art and collectables sales which is a 95 percent increase from last year. 2 Indian artists selected to produce new commissions for Liverpool Biennial

Among the ten Asian artists selected to produce new commissions for “Touched”, the name and theme for the Liverpool Biennial International Exhibition 2010, two are contemporary Indian artists.
